Daylight Savings Time and
How to avoid being late for a tour?⌚️
I will be sharing the most common reasons why people arrive late for a tour (specially "public" tours) and how to avoid it.
📍MEETING LOCATION.- This is the #1 reason why people arrive late for a tour/activity and the truth is that when traveling to a different city or country sometimes it could be confusing. (even if you are going with a taxi driver/uber) depending on the case leave at least 30 minutes earlier so in case there is traffic or any kind of delays you still will have some time on your hands and be on time.
📱MOBILE DEVICES.- In the era of mobiles, tablets, etc... normally if we want to check what time it is we do it in these mobile devices (not a watch) so please take in consideration that there could be a time difference between the city where you depart from and the city that you arrive to go on vacations.
🕔DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME.- A lot of people get confused because Daylight Saving time in Mexico vs US/CAN is very different, normally its a few weeks apart from each other. Also if you are planning to visit the "Quintana Roo" state (example: Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Puerto Morelos, etc.) this state does NOT switch their clocks, they have the same time all year long.
✴️My Recommendations✴️
✔️When you get the confirmation of a tour/activity and you need to meet somewhere please ask for address, close to what?, specifications, and all details possible to make it easier for you to find the place, if they say "Marina" ask which Marina? or the name of the Marina? because for example here in PV for whatever reason a lot of people assume that there is only 1 Marina when there are so many Marinas, all of them in different locations plus a neighborhood also called "Marina" so make sure that you get the most information possible.
✔️First of all setup your mobile devices to the "Local Time" of the place you just arrived for vacations, an second dont put your full trust on your mobile devices, the battery can die, etc... I use to work in several hotels and we had a service called "Wake Up Call" you request it to the front desk, telephone operator or guest service and most of the time is FREE and they will be happy to give you a call at the time you requested and if you dont answer their phonecalls after several tries they normally send a bellboy to knock at your door. If you want you can set up your own alarm and also ask for the wakeup call to the hotel staff that way you will have a backup to be sure you wakeup.
✔️If you are traveling to Mexico a few weeks after you switch your clock in the US/CAN be aware that they will be switching their clocks while you are there. Specially if you are thinking of taking a tour the Sunday of the switch. All the tours run in "local time" so take your precautions.
